Big Brother is Watching You

September 22nd, 2010 - Over the course of a week, there were 3 separate stories exposing political spying by the government on peace and social justice activists.  The first story, courtesy of the Huffington Post, details a spy program operated by a private company on behalf of the Pennsylvania Homeland Security Department.  The second story, courtesy of the Des Moines Registar, exposes the FBI's extensive surveillance of Iowa social justice activists.  And the final story, from the AFP, reports on an Inspector General's report finding that the FBI misrepresented it's reasons for conducting a series of surveillance operations on domestic activists from 2001 to 2006 under the guise of investigating terrorism.  Of course, all of this should come as no surprise to those of us with good memories.  COINTELPRO anyone?
