September 27th, 2010 - Obama administration works to make internet wiretaps easier
Essentially, this would require all internet communication to be converted into transcripts which must be handed over to the government upon request. Naturally, it would be silly to think that such power would be used for political ends. Unless of course you've been paying attention to the recently uncovered programs of government spying against social justice and peace activists below.

Big Brother is Watching You
September 22nd, 2010 - Over the course of a week, there were 3 separate stories exposing political spying by the government on peace and social justice activists. The first story, courtesy of the Huffington Post, details a spy program operated by a private company on behalf of the Pennsylvania Homeland Security Department. The second story, courtesy of the Des Moines Registar, exposes the FBI's extensive surveillance of Iowa social justice activists. And the final story, from the AFP, reports on an Inspector General's report finding that the FBI misrepresented it's reasons for conducting a series of surveillance operations on domestic activists from 2001 to 2006 under the guise of investigating terrorism. Of course, all of this should come as no surprise to those of us with good memories. COINTELPRO anyone?

An Introduction
Ever have that feeling you're being lied to? That you can't accept certain things at face value? Ever feel that way about the government? Well, guess what? You're not paranoid! This blog is meant to serve as a history of the various news stories of government abuse, corruption, and deception. That's a big task!!!
If I had to be nailed down, I'd call myself an anarchist, which to me seems the only reasonable response to centuries of domination by homicidal States. While that definitely informs my opinion, the news presented here isn't only of interest to anarchists, but really anyone who would like to consider themselves a well-informed citizen.
Mostly, I'm just looking for a place to compile various news stories that I've been posting to my facebook page, as a way of making them more accessible. So here it goes, and reader contributions are very much encouraged!
